Who am I?
A Brief History
Hi. My name is Jordan Sinclair. And I do perhaps one of the most mundane and boring things in the world. I write. My mission is to show the world that writing can be fun. I’m starting with the Internet. I’m starting with you.
I’m a social bug. I love people. I’m also an introvert. I love being alone. It’s in this alone time that I conjure up ways to master my craft.
I was reading an article some years ago about electrical engineering. The article was about why people need to hire an electrician rather than do the jobs themselves. They presented a photo gallery of some of the worst hack jobs I’ve ever seen. They ended with this.
“Everybody is an electrician. Not everybody is a licensed electrician.”
I was studying electrical trades at a local college at the time. It was at this college where I earned my first award for my writing. The class was Physics, of all things. I wrote my term paper on Black Holes and it earned me a certificate from the school for the paper and a small USB flash drive with the school logo printed on it.
I didn’t always enjoy writing. College level English turned that around for me. Every week, we were to turn in journal entries. “Write what you want”, the professor said. This course requirement turned my attitude about writing around.
I had a poor attitude. It showed in my writing. When I compared the first couple of entries to the final ones at the end of the course, I discovered something. I actually enjoyed writing.
Since then, I have written letters for legal cases where people thought a lawyer wrote them. I have written reports for supervisors to initiate change. My employer once told me that when I write, I have a heavy presence that is difficult to ignore. When I communicate on paper, I choose the right words at the right time.
This “natural talent” is a huge advantage for my clients. I understand that communication doesn’t always come easy or natural. I give their material a voice that is difficult to ignore and drives results.
My other talents lie in Information Technology. I hold four certifications in IT.
My dad was a journalist. I blame him. I know he’s looking down at me right now. So you know what? Thanks Dad.
